Riverbend School is on the move! Our master plan includes the construction of a new classroom building on the 5-acre property that currently includes the Children’s House and the Historic Morse Tavern. The focus of this plan is to provide the best possible education for our students from Toddler through Eighth grade, and to continue to be a vital and vibrant presence in the South Natick community. It will also enable us to expand and improve our innovative programs as we celebrate 45 years serving the greater Metro-West area.
Current plans are to construct two new buildings. Together, the existing Children’s House, a new Elementary/Middle School Building, and a new Gym/Music Studio will form an interior courtyard with outdoor classrooms at the perimeter and a shady common area for student activities and gatherings.
A new 26,000 square foot Elementary:
- Four Lower Elementary classrooms
- Two Upper Elementary Classrooms
- Special classrooms
- Library and reading nook
- Science lab
- Kitchen studio
- Large common area and cafeteria with a catering kitchen
- Administrative offices
- Parent reception area
- Age-appropriate play areas
A 9,000 square foot attached gym and athletic facilities:
- An elementary-sized basketball court
- Full elementary-sized soccer field
- A large stage for arts and school community activities
Green initiatives such as a rooftop garden, outdoor classrooms, and the use of photovoltaic panels and porous pavement will respect and preserve the environment while providing additional educational opportunities for the children.
